Hazardous Waste

HHW Collection Regulations: 


RESIDENTS

Proof of residency is required at event.

Residents of host and co-host towns may attend their town's collection at no charge.

Residents of SSRC Member Towns may attend an event their town is NOT hosting/cohosting at no charge with a Visitor Authorization Form from their own town's Hazardous Waste coordinator.   (Rockland residents do not need this form.)

  •        Without authorization, they may pay with a check (see below)

NON-RESIDENTS

Visitors from ANY town that is NOT hosting/cohosting the event who don't have an authorization form, or have more material than their town authorized, please bring a check made out to Stericycle Environmental to cover applicable costs.


QUANTITY & COST

A limit on the subsidized quantity may be set by your town

Costs are based on container size, payable by check to Stericycle Environmental: 

Less than 10 gallons / 20 lbs: $25

10-25 gallons / 21-50 lbs: $47 

Larger quantities are assessed in additional multiples of $47

Note:  minimum charge for collection at home or facility is $400, plus cost of material.

Braintree: Clean Harbors - resident drop-off every Saturday from March to November, 8am-noon at 1 Hill Ave. Cost - $3.00/lb. Call 781-380-7177  Printable Clean Harbors flyer


Lexington: Minuteman Hazardous Product Regional Facility - 8 Saturday collections from April through November, open to nonresidents for a fee


Sutton MA: (south of Worcester) New England Disposal Technologies accepts residential hazardous waste at cost on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-4 year round

 


The Cape Cod Cooperative Extension Service runs several HHW collections in spring, summer and fall.  If you are not a resident of the host town, and cannot wait for a local event, you may pre-register two weeks ahead of an event using the "small business" rules, and pay for what you bring by check. ** Usable latex paintis only accepted at these collections.  It is not hazardous, and may also be dried and disposed with regular trash.
