Material Accepted
The following is a list of material Accepted at ALL and SOME Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events.
Thank you for properly managing of your harmful materials. Improperly disposed hazardous waste can react, explode, create toxic fumes, contaminate soil and groundwater, and endanger the health & safety of people & animals, including waste sanitation workers and transfer station staff.
- Please place accepted materials in cardboard or rigid plastic containers.
- Keep materials in their original or labeled containers if possible.
- Do not pack materials in plastic bags. We need to see it.

Mercury
What is Mercury?
- Mercury is a heavy silver liquid that poisons the nervous system, liver & kidneys
- Pregnant women & young children are the most vulnerable
- Mercury poses no hazard when contained in a product
- Mercury can be found in old thermometers, CFL bulbs, old thermostats and fluorescent tubes
What to do with Mercury products?
- It is ILLEGAL to dispose of Mercury in the trash.
- Bring your mercury-containing products to your town's location listed here during regular hours.
- Up to a liquid ounce (2 tbsp, 1 lb by weight) of loose mercury may be brought to a HHW event in a secure container.
