Cleaning Up Our Recyclables: Update on Recycling Markets & MassDEP's IQ Kit
Current market forces demand that we all do our part to support the collection of recyclables free of contamination from the populations we serve.

At our December MRC meeting, we will hear from municipalities in our region who have worked to address this head on through implementation of MassDEP's Recycling IQ Kit.  In addition, MRF operators who supported these communities will join us to offer their insights about current recycling market conditions and how we can work together to meet the stricter quality standards required by these markets.

Our agenda will include the following:

Recycling IQ Kit Results

Lessons learned from the Town of Abington and the City of New Bedford

Applying for the Recycling IQ Kit in 2018

The Recycling IQ Kit provides municipalities with tools and resources to increase the quantity and improve the quality of the recycling stream. Program support includes technical assistance from MassDEP, outreach material production and distribution and/or funding for temporary staff for "tagging" curbside non-compliant recycling containers.

Recycling Market Update

What we need to know from our local processors about National Sword and how we must work together to reduce contamination

Location Fiske Library, 110 Randall Rd., Wrentham, MA

A Message from our Director:

Give your recycling program a gift this season: review what is truly acceptable in your Town.  There's been a lot or "wishful recycling" going on, and it's causing trouble!  HIghlights:  keep it clean, and only include plastics that are rigid containers - no bags, styrofoam or ribbons.  Learn more at Recycling 101 and elsewhere on the site
